Romania’s national women’s handball team meets Hungary and seems adrift! Florentin Pera has a group of athletes who don’t play anymore

On September 23-25, the women’s handball team will meet, led by Florentin Pera, for centralized training in Oradea.

The friendly matches with Hungary will be played in Tatabanya, on Thursday, September 26 – without spectators and on Saturday, September 28 – with spectators.

Romania – Hungary in handball, but coach Florentin Pera is on the ropes

Taking a close look at the team called by coach Florentin Pera, we notice that the situation is dramatic.

Many of the handball players perform little or not at all in the club teams, only six of them are definite starters. Eliza Buceschi, Sorina Grozav and Cristina Laszlo are missing for various reasons, they will probably appear in the squad until the start of Euro 2024.

Both teams, Romania and Hungary, are qualified for the final tournament of this year’s European Championship.

Hungary will play in A, with Turkey, Macedonia and Sweden, and the tricolors will evolve in group B, according to the schedule Romania – Czech Republic (November 29, 7:00 p.m.), Montenegro – Romania (December 1, 7:00 p.m.) and Serbia – Romania (December 3 , 19.00).

The 2024 edition of the European Championship will be the first with 24 teams at the start and will be hosted by Austria, Hungary and Switzerland, between November 28 and December 15. The matches will be hosted in the preliminary groups by Debrecen (groups A and B), Basel (C and D) and Innsbruck (E and F), in the main groups by Debrecen and Vienna, the Austrian capital will also host the final stages.

At the last two editions of the European Championship, Romania ranked 12th, after being 4th in 2018. The best performance of the tricolors is the bronze medal in 2010.

The League of Flowers ticked off several negative records in the Champions League. One was just this weekend, when we recorded only two goals from Romania in this competition: Cristina Neagu (retired from activity) and Eliza Buceschi (not invited).

Worse is that Florentin Pera leads the Gloria Bistrita teama grouping where no Romanian woman entered her name on the list of scorers.
