Rotel Michi Q5: Audiophile CD player with excellent DAC and symmetrical design

High-end CD player with D/A converter

The new Michi Q5 CD player from Rotel, with its powerful DAC and flexible connection options, is aimed at audiophile sound gourmets who are looking for the highest sound fidelity.

With the Michi Q5, Rotel is launching a CD player that it claims will set new standards for audiophile listening. The CD player combines advanced technologies with precise workmanship to offer exceptional sound reproduction and versatile connectivity options.

Advanced DAC for excellent sound quality

At the heart of the Michi Q5 is the ESS ES9028PRO DACan eight-channel digital-analog converter. According to Rotel, this DAC enables particularly precise and distortion-free playback. The fully symmetrical circuit is designed to ensure that noise and distortion are reduced to a minimum, while dedicated channels for each stereo side promise detailed sound resolution.

Precise CD mechanism for trouble-free playback

The Michi Q5 features a top-loading CD mechanism that is housed in a robust CNC-machined aluminum housing A special spring assembly minimizes unwanted vibrations and ensures error-free CD playback. This design is intended to increase the longevity of the device while optimizing sound quality.

Versatile connection options

In addition to CD playback, the Michi Q5 offers various digital inputs, including PC USB ports with up to 32-bit/384kHz and support for MQA and DSD formats. Coaxial and optical inputs enable signal processing of up to 24-bit/192kHz, making the CD player a versatile digital music hub. This means that the Michi Q5 can seamlessly integrate not only CDs but also high-resolution digital sources into any audio system.

Optimized audio quality through separate power supply

To minimize interference, Rotel uses a separate power supply for digital and analog circuits. Two specially manufactured Ringkerntransformatoren supply the components with power independently of one another to avoid disturbing noises. The CD motor is also isolated from the sensitive audio circuits, which should further increase the sound fidelity.

Elegant design and intuitive controls

The Michi Q5 combines powerful technology with a minimalist design. The CNC-machined aluminum housing and the integrated TFT color display give the device an elegant appearance. CD covers are shown on the display, which also visually enhances the listening experience. It is controlled via a remote control, while RS232 and Ethernet connections enable integration into automation systems.
