Under the title “Simply do it”, the “RTL Nachtjournal” wants to devote more attention to the topic of sustainability in a new section.

“RTL Nachtjournal” presenter Maik Meuser (48) is committed to the issue of sustainability. In his newscast There will therefore be a new section soon. It’s called “Just Do It” and is scheduled to run once a month and start this October. The exact broadcast date has not yet been determined.

“The new section wants to (…) focus not only on sustainable initiatives, but also on social commitment and thus tell stories of success that are intended to give courage in times of crisis and perhaps find imitators,” said Meuser about the section on climate and sustainability issues . Alongside Ilka Eßmüller, he is the main presenter of the “RTL Nachtjournal”.

“RTL Nachtjournal” wants to tell hopeful stories

“Simply Do It” is dedicated, among other things, to the problem of abandoned fishing nets that pollute the oceans and can be found as flotsam on beaches around the world. Meuser also wants to tell more “hopeful stories of success,” as he told the German Press Agency. “Stories that best happen on your own doorstep, where viewers can dock, and that show that there are already many good opportunities to fight against the climate crisis.” They are stories that give you the courage to take action encourage people to think about their own responsibility.

“Because the viewers, all of us, are not only part of the problem, but also part of the solution. This requires sensitivity and not pointing fingers. Even if the facts are outrageous, most people don’t want to be yelled at,” says Meuser. Showing solutions is exciting. “Constructive climate journalism that gives optimism without downplaying the dangers.”
