There were no new episodes of “Neues vom Pumuckl” this year. These have already been ordered, but not yet finished. Meanwhile, “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” was doing particularly well with the younger generation in prime time on the first.

The then new episodes of “Pumuckl” brought RTL a market share of over 17 percent in their linear first broadcast on Christmas Day 2024. This year the Cologne TV station once again relied on this programming. A second season of “Neues vom Pumuckl” has long been confirmed, but due to the extensive work on it, it is not yet finished. So on the afternoon of Christmas Day 2024, repetitions ran that were far less successful. Between 3 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., RTL generated between 7.4 and 9.7 percent market share with the Kobold, so by no means outstanding values. Two episodes of the series also ran very early in the morning of the holiday – from around 5:40 a.m. 9.1 and 10.2 percent were generated in the very early hours of the morning.

RTL was more successful in the evenings. A full-length “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” brought the station a good 13.4 percent market share. Nevertheless, the station had to admit defeat to Sat.1 and ZDF in view of the young audience. In total, an average of 3.08 million people watched the guessing game.

The first aired a new edition of a very well-known material: “Ronja Robber’s Daughter” was presented with three episodes from 8:15 p.m. 2.74, 2.48 and 2.28 million people watched on average. The ARD main program thus achieved 11.7, 10.4 and 9.6 percent market share – overall mixed values. As usual, it is unclear what media library accesses have to be taken into account in order to get a complete picture of success/failure. Among younger people, the rate was between seven and a half and 9.2 percent above the station average. Martin Rütter’s animal year, which RTL broadcast from shortly after 7 p.m., was rather weak – it generated a seven percent market share.

Federal President addresses the people with an address

By the way, there was also a demand for the Federal President’s “Christmas Address,” which was shown on Das Erste after a short “Tagesschau” at 8:05 p.m. It reached an average of 4.07 million people. This resulted in a total of 18.8 percent. The younger generation had a market share of 14.9 percent.
