Coach Ruben Amorim, who played his first game for Manchester United, assumes that it takes time to return the team to the top of English football and recalled that he only had two training sessions before the debut.
At Ipswich Town, on the 12th round of the English League, the “red devils” ended up drawing (1-1) against the now third-to-last placed team in the competition.
“Everything was very fresh and there was no time to train. The players did things well, but it will take time. We started well, but then we lost intensity. We lost the ball very quickly. We have to have another capacity. We have to improve”, said Rúben Amorim in the “flash interview” after the meeting on Portman Road.
Amorim reinforced that the players worked hard to achieve victory, but that everything is “still very new” for everyone since their arrival at Old Trafford.
“We’ve only had two training sessions and everything is still very new. We’re talking about a big change in the team, in the way we play. We have to grow game by game and take advantage of every minute to improve,” he said.
With the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in the starting lineup, Manchester United opened the scoring after just two minutes, with a goal from Marcus Rashford but, even before the break, the home team equalized with Hutchinson (43).
Amorim’s next game will be on Thursday, this time in the Europa League, with his debut scheduled at Old Trafford against Norwegians Bodo/Glimt.
