Running mate Trump not a fan of Big Tech

James David Vance, or JD Vance for short, a young senator from Ohio, who initially became known for his book Hillbilly Elegy, will be Donald Trump’s running mate in the presidential election. But Vance is not a fan of Big Tech and has even called for the break-up of one of its largest companies.

Vance represents the new, Trumpist current within the Republican Party. He is in favor of restricting global trade, anti-immigration, less intervention in foreign conflicts.

Vance is a Yale-educated lawyer and venture capitalist who worked at law firm Sidley Austin and helped Trump raise money in Silicon Valley.

Vance has openly praised the work of Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, who has already taken a tougher line on Big Tech.
