Russia may ban children under 14 from using social networks

The idea is already being developed in the State Duma.

A new ban initiative is being considered in the State Duma. Parliamentarians proposed banning children under 14 years of age from using social networks, writes “RIA Novosti».

According to media reports, the idea was put forward by State Duma deputy Amir Khamitov, representing the New People party. He is confident that it is necessary to introduce an age limit for using social networks in order to protect children under 14 years of age from all dangers on the Internet. The parliamentarian believes that social networks sometimes turn from a way of communication into a tool of destructive propaganda – pedophiles and other perverts look for their victims there, anti-Russian propaganda is carried out, and adherents of destructive cults are also recruited there.

Khamitov believes that a child can obtain useful and necessary information from educational resources and books.
