Russian gas no longer enters Europe through Ukraine. Gazprom reported this.
They noted that gas supplies have been stopped since 08:00 Moscow time on January 1. The company is deprived of the “technical and legal ability” to submit it, Gazprom added, recalling that the Ukrainian side has repeatedly and clearly refused to renew the agreement for organizing transportation.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine called the transit stop a “historic event,” noting that such a step was taken “in the interests of national security.”
Let us recall that the gas pipeline from Russia through Ukraine enters the territory of Slovakia – previously the authorities of this country demanded that Ukraine extend the agreements. It was noted that the EU’s losses (60–70 billion euros per year) are incomparable with Russia’s losses in the Russian Federation (2 billion euros).
Earlier, the Transnistrian company Tirasteploenergo warned about shutdowns of central heating and hot water from January 1. Exceptions are made only for hospitals with inpatient facilities. It was also reported that gas outages are expected in apartment buildings and private buildings.
