“Russian Consul” Serbian candidate for “Oscar”
Miroslav Lekić’s film “The Russian Consul” will be a Serbian candidate for the 97th awarding of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences “Oscar”, in the category for the best international film, the Film Center of Serbia (FCS) announced.
The selection committee for the selection of the Serbian candidate for the “Oscar” made a decision by secret ballot in the first round, according to FCS.
“Russian Consul” received nine votes, Marko Đorđević’s film “Za danas tolok” seven votes, Mladen Đorđević’s “The Working Class Goes to Hell” three votes, and Nemanja Ćeranić’s “Sunday” two votes.
The members of the Selection Committee were Dimče Stojanovski (president), Biljana Maksić, Darko Bajić, Dejan Dabić, Božidar Zečević, Đorđe Milosavljević and Miloš Janković.
FCS thanked the members of the Selection Committee for their work and reminded that the director of the film “The Russian Consul” Miroslav Lekić is also the president of the FCS Board of Directors.
“That’s why Mr. Lekić did not participate in the selection process of members of the Selection Committee. “Also, this year, there was no representative of the Board of Directors of the Film Center of Serbia in the composition of the commission, as is the usual practice,” explained FCS.
In mid-August, the Film Center of Serbia invited domestic film producers to submit a film by August 30, 2024, for selection by the Serbian candidate for the 97th awarding of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the category for the best international film (International Feature Film Award) for 2024. . a year.
