Russian drone shot down near the presidential palace in Kiev during Starmer’s visit to Ukraine

  • A Russian drone was shot down on Thursday during the visit of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, to the presidential palace in Kyiv.
  • The Prime Minister was meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the next steps in Ukraine, according to Sky News.

The sound of anti-aircraft gunfire could be heard in the palace courtyard, while air sirens warned of possible drone attacks.

One drone was shot down, but eyewitnesses believe there were at least two drones in operation and suspect they were surveillance devices, as the downed one did not explode on impact.

Starmer said the drone threat was “a reminder of the situation Ukraine faces every day” and that the war was caused by “Russian aggression”.
