On October 24, the French newspaper La Lettre reported the sale of Russian Auchans.

Auchan is considering two options for leaving the Russian market: transfer of local business to management or sale to a large retailer, reported Kommersant sources.

According to the interlocutors of this publication, among the contenders for the retailer’s Russian business are Lenta, Magnit and X5 Group (owns the Perekrestok, Pyaterochka retail chains and others).

  • The press service of Auchan Retail Russia, in response to a request from RB.RU, did not confirm or deny the departure from Russia: “For several years now there have been rumors about the sale of Auchan Retail Russia and the departure of our company from the Russian market, which we have repeatedly denied . Each time, Auchan’s answer was the same: “We do not comment on rumors.”

  • In April 2024, the Russian division of Auchan confirmed plans to remain in the country and recalled that since 2023 they have been operating independently from the parent company.
