Ryanair cancels flights from Poland to Germany. Two destinations have disappeared from the system

Ryanair is an Irish budget airline that operates many routes from Poland. Two flights have recently disappeared from its booking system. These are flights from Krakow to Dortmund and from Gdansk to Hamburg.

Such news has worried some passengers who regularly travel on the above-mentioned routes. There are many indications that flights from Poland to Germany in the case of Ryanair, they may not return – for now, we are only talking about the two cases mentioned. All because of the costs that the carrier incurs when landing beyond our western border.

The Irish carrier has been operating for some time now accuses Germany of too high airport feeswhich mainly hit low-cost carriers. Costs incurred by low-cost carriers were supposed to double since 2019, and there is no indication that the situation will improve – at least from the perspective of airlines.

Ryanair is not limiting itself to criticizing German regulations. It is time for action, and this involves reducing the frequency of flights from other countries to Germany. An example of flight restrictions is the cancellation of connections from Krakow and Gdansk to German cities. Routes that were planned for this year will still be operated. However, Tickets for 2025 for the summer season are no longer available – disappeared from the system.

There are many indications that if Germany maintains its current pricing policy, the connections will not be resumed. However, this is not all, because the carrier is planning to reduce frequencies on other routes. An example is the reduction of Ryanair’s base at Berlin Airport – this happened at the end of August (according to pasazer.com) and includes the suspension of 6 routes.

This approach by Ryanair may seem quite aggressive, because in the event of a lack of agreement between the carrier and Germany, there will be major flight restrictions. However, this is nothing new. A similar situation occurs on Polish airport Warsaw-Modlin.

The whole situation of the dispute between Ryanair and Modlin has been brought closer here. The airport has made its fees more realistic (including basing them on inflation and rising costs), and Ryanair is trying to oppose them by cutting connections and suggesting a move to the capital’s Fryderyk Chopin Airport.
