Ryzen 9000 processors can finally be really fast in these motherboards –

Fresh AGESA, extra power connections, robust power circuit, cool exterior and of course AI – but this will also be reflected in the prices of the new MSI motherboards.

Like any other motherboard manufacturer, of course MSI also rises to the occasionif models based on new chipsets can be launched. This is no different for the AMD X870/X870E chipset made for AMD AM5 socket CPUs. For the AMD Zen5-based Ryzen 9000 CPUs, the manufacturer immediately came up with four cards, which will arrive in domestic stores from the beginning of October.

Two X870E and two slightly cheaper X870 cards will arrive from MSI in the first round, which are the MEG, MAG, MPG and PRO families can be classified. None of the motherboards are entry-level, in fact, they touch the upper part of the middle category – from above. The most modest in the line is the Pro X870-P WiFi, which entices with a 14+2+1 phase power circuit, a Gen5 PCIe slot and an M.2 slot. In addition to Wi-Fi 7 and USB 4, you also get a 5 Gbit/s LAN port, and there is no shortage of additional USB ports. The M.2 SSD naturally comes with a designer heatsink, and thanks to the EZ M.2 Clip II mechanism, installation is also faster and easier.

One step up, you will find the MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi board with the more robust power circuit, but still equipped with the X870 kit, and above that the X870E-based MPG X870E Carbon WiFi, as well as the top predator of AM5 boards, the MEG X870E Godlike.

The entire surface of the latter is covered by a heat sink and a cover plate, and the tuning is assisted by a 24+2+1 phase power circuit. It is interesting that an 8-pin power connector is placed under the PCIe slots, at the bottom of the board, so that it can serve larger consumers (i.e. video cards) via the PCIe slot as quickly as possible. The MEG offers the maximum of everything, so it is not surprising that in addition to the 5 Gbit/s LAN, a 10 Gbit/s connection was added to the back.

The new MSI boards also support RAM tuning, and you can even reach the AMD OPP (Optimized Performance Profile), which can be used to bring stable DDR5-6000 with CL30 timing. This can also be used for memory tuning MSI Memory Try It! and the High-Efficiency Mode.

Of course, all MSI boards with X870/X870E will receive the latest AGESA, which already includes performance improvements for AMD Ryzen 9000s, so that the new CPUs can finally be as fast as AMD promised them to be. The new tabs also introduce the Click BIOS X interface, which makes the settings user-friendly – but of course this does not mean that you can cancel anything without consequences. If you know what you want to change, you can do it quickly and easily and you will have a better chance of successful tuning.

The pricing is not yet public, but we would be very surprised if we could read friendly numbers on the price tags – the Godlike model will almost certainly cost well over HUF 200,000. The new MSI X870 cards will soon arrive in our test lab, so you will be able to read their test here.
