AMD is waiting until the last moment with the new generation of Ryzen. Although the chips are already in a number of world newsrooms, the company kept the release date under wraps until yesterday.
AMD has finally confirmed that the Ryzen 9000 series with Zen5 architecture will be released on July 31st. It wasn’t a very well-kept secret. The test pieces are already in the hands of foreign editors, and it didn’t look like the publication could be postponed. The last day of July was a logical choice.
Even after the official confirmation of the release, we do not know the price tags. AMD will probably publish those in the following week and thus cover the price tags of Intel’s Core Ultra 200K. In the meantime, we can expect a number of price leaks from various e-shops.
A quartet of high-end chips will hit the market first. So the models R9 9950X, R9 9900X, R7 9700X and R5 9600X.
AMD published benchmarks comparing the performance of the R7 9700X against the first generation of chips with 3D V-cache, the model R7 5800X3D. The performance increase should be an average of 12% with less consumption. The efficiency has thus improved, which was to be expected given the marked difference in architecture.
The new generation of X3D chips with the Zen5 architecture is expected to arrive earlier than was common with previous generations. Processors with 3D V-cache have consistently performed better in games, so more demanding gamers are more likely to wait for their release.
