The court has granted bail to former Environment, Forest and Climate Change Affairs Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury in four cases of Khilgaon police station. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehdi Hasan granted his bail on a bond of Tk 5,000 today, Tuesday (October 8) at noon.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury’s lawyer Morshed Hossain Shaheen said that the court granted him bail because he was ill. On the other hand, pro-BNP lawyers said that Saber Hossain Chowdhury was granted bail because of magical reasons.
Meanwhile, on Monday (October 7), the court granted a 5-day remand to Saber Hossain Chowdhury, who was arrested in the case of the killing of a BNP worker named Maqbul in a police raid at the BNP office.
Earlier, Saber Hossain Chowdhury was arrested from Gulshan area of the capital on Sunday (October 6) afternoon. A team of the Intelligence Branch (DB) conducted a raid at Gulshan’s residence and arrested the former minister.
It should be noted that Saber Hossain Chowdhury was the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the last cabinet of the ousted Awami League government. In 2023, he was appointed as the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Special Envoy on Environment and Climate Affairs.
