Former Scottish football player Denis Law died at the age of 84. His family announced the death of the former legendary Manchester United striker on Friday.

Denis Law (pictured in 1967) is the third best scorer in the history of Manchester United.
According to the AP agency, Law has been suffering from dementia since 2021. “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that our father, Denis Law, has passed away. He fought an uphill battle, now he is finally resting in peace,” the family said in a statement.
Law is the only Scottish footballer to have won the Ballon d’Or of France Football magazine. He received the prestigious award in 1964. He became famous especially in the Manchester United jersey, during his 11-year career at Old Trafford, he scored 237 goals in 404 matches.
He ranks third in the club’s all-time scoring chart, only Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton have scored more times.
He won the championship with United in 1965 and 1967, but due to injury he was unable to play in the famous European Champions Cup final against Benfica Lisbon in 1968, in which Manchester triumphed 4-1.
He made his debut for the Scottish national team in 1958 as an 18-year-old. He scored a total of 55 starts and 30 goals in it, together with Kenny Dalglish he leads the historical ranking of the national team’s scorers.
