“Satta Cafe” is the first cafe in Khon Kaen that is devoted to making merit. It is open on important Buddhist days at reasonable prices.
At Wat Si Chan, a royal temple located on Si Chan Road in the Khon Kaen Municipality, Phra Thammaphisamai, Associate Professor Dr., Secretary of Wat Si Chan, a royal temple and acting abbot of Mueang Khon Kaen District, has chosen the important Buddhist Lent day to open “Satta Cafe,” a chic cafe inside the temple amidst a shady atmosphere. This is considered the first cafe inside a temple in Khon Kaen. Relatives, laypeople, and Khon Kaen residents who come to make merit have been continuously using the service. Phra Thammaphisamai, Associate Professor Dr., Secretary of Wat Si Chan, a royal temple and acting abbot of Mueang Khon Kaen District, said that Sattha Cafe was born from the idea of wanting people who come to make merit at the temple to have a place to rest amidst the nature of the temple located in the heart of the city. In addition, this temple is home to the Wat Si Chan Charity School, which has more than 600 students, both laymen and novices. Therefore, a cafe was set up inside the temple to accommodate students, parents, and people who come to make merit. The income will be used to support the education of the school’s students and to help restore and renovate the temple. “This cafe’s concept is “everything is better with coffee and nature.” Therefore, we would like to invite relatives and devotees to come and try it at Sattha Cafe. The drinks are available like those at coffee shops and cafes, starting at 40 baht. But what we would like you to try is the signature menu of the shop, which is the super-smooth Americano coffee. Because the barista of the shop is a famous Morlam singer, “Phongsak Phonthip”. Whoever orders this menu will also get to listen to a live chant.”
