Constellium increases its recycling capacities

Semi-finished aluminium giant Constellium has inaugurated a new advanced recycling centre at its Neuf-Brisach site in the Bas-Rhin region. With an annual processing capacity of 130,000 tonnes of automotive industry production scrap and used cans, the facility is expected to increase recycled volumes by up to 75%. The total investment for the project reached €130 million, including €10 million in subsidies from the France Relance plan.

A giant methane digester to heat the people of Dijon and boost farmers’ incomes

On September 20, the Dijon Céréales cooperative and the Danish methane specialist Nature Energy inaugurated the largest site dedicated to the production of biogas in France in Côte-d’Or. 150 farmers are associated with this project which will deliver 1% of the department’s residential gas consumption, or 20% of the needs of the people of Dijon.

Official inauguration of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm

Fully commissioned at the end of May, the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm (Côtes d’Armor) has now been officially inaugurated by Ignacio Sánchez Galán, CEO of Iberdrola, the promoter of the farm. This is the Spanish energy company’s fourth offshore wind farm. The 62 8-megawatt wind turbines were manufactured by Siemens Gamesa in Le Havre (Manche). With a total cost of 2.4 billion euros, the project should enable the production of more than 1,800 gigawatt hours per year, or 9% of the electricity consumed in Brittany.

Orixha prepares to open a factory in Ain

Lyon-based biotech Orixha plans to build a factory in Saint-Vulbas (Ain). Commissioning is expected in 2028 for a planned investment of 10 million euros. The building is to produce an innovative implantable medical device, used to cool patients who have just suffered a cardiac arrest. The young company still needs to obtain authorization from the ANSM (National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products) to launch human trials.

Bordeaux Air Booster in full swing

Bordeaux-based start-up Air Booster, which modifies standard industrial cladding into heat exchangers, is experiencing a boom. It raised €1.5 million in May and plans to recruit 3 to 4 people by the end of the year. The UIMM (metal industry employers’ federation) has already installed the system for one of its buildings, as has the Paris region transport company RATP. The tyre manufacturer Michelin and the construction specialist Etex are also in discussions.

Phocéenne de Cosmétique relocates its Laboratoire Vendôme brand

La Phocéenne de Cosmétique has announced the relocation of its cosmetics brand Laboratoire Vendôme. The industrial move from Poland to France would allow the company to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 10%, thanks to the French energy mix. This reorganization follows the acquisition of the brand last year by La Phocéenne de Cosmétique from the Italian group Bolton.

Verallia acquires the world’s first electric glass furnace

Glass jar and bottle manufacturer Verallia has inaugurated the world’s first electric furnace for food packaging. The device should enable the Châteaubernard (Charente) plant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its production of clear glass bottles by 60%. Developed by the Paris-based engineering company Fives, the device has a production capacity of 180 tonnes of glass per day, or around 300,000 bottles.
