Sainz moves to Williams from 2025

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has signed a two-year contract with Williams, for which he will drive from 2025.

Sainz did not renew his contract with Ferrari, after the famous Italian team announced in February that it had hired seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton from 2025.

– I am very happy to announce that I will be driving for Williams from 2025. It’s no secret that this year the driver market was complicated for various reasons and that I needed time to make a decision – said Sainz, who has driven for Ferrari since 2021.

He signed a two-year contract with an option to extend the cooperation, Williams said.

– I am fully convinced that Williams is the right place for me to continue my journey in Formula 1 and I am extremely proud to join a historic and successful team, for which many of my childhood heroes drove in the past and left their mark on our sport. The ultimate goal of returning Williams to where he belongs, at the top, is a challenge that I accept with positivity and excitement – said the 29-year-old Spanish driver.

Sainz will replace Logan Sargent in Williams and will drive together with Alex Albon.

– I am convinced that the team has all the necessary ingredients to write history again, and starting from January 1, I will do my absolute best to drive Williams forward, together with every member of the team – added Sainz.

It was speculated that Sainz could replace Hamilton in Mercedes, but also move to Alpin or Zauber, which will become Audi from 2026.

Sainz achieved three victories during his career, has 23 podium finishes, and is currently fifth in the Formula 1 championship.
