A higher salary and a stable job are desired by all those who want to work and earn accordingly. But the search for a fully satisfying job is not simple, so many of those who feel that they are masters of their field will keep the bar high and will not give up one or two of their salary claims.

Cross-border jobs may be an option, especially for those willing to change residence.

Almost 2,000 jobs are currently available for those who want to work abroad. Employers offer salaries that start at 700 euros net and can reach up to 5,000 euros per month.

More than 3,000 jobs abroad have been posted since the beginning of the summer so far, representing 8% of the total number of new jobs during this period. Most offers come from employers in Germany, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Ireland and are looking for candidates willing to work in areas such as transport, retail, the food industry, tourism or services.

“Employers from outside the country know that the main argument with which they can attract more candidates is the salary, which is why one out of two posted jobs has the salary shown in the job advertisement. Besides, the candidates also need to know exactly how much they could earn in addition to the jobs in Romania in order to be convinced to take such an important step as a relocation outside the country, even for a certain period of time”, says Raluca Dumitra, Head of Marketing at eJobs.ro.

In many cases, it is about salaries three or four times higher than those in Romania, both in the case of entry level jobs or for skilled workers, as well as in the case of specialists. For example, a software engineer in Germany can earn €6,500 net per month plus benefits, while a warehouse worker in the Netherlands can earn between €1,800 and €2,000 per month plus benefits. The salary of an international racing driver starts at 2,500 euros per month; a courier can earn 2,000 euros per month, while for unskilled workers, wages start at 700 euros per month. The salaries that those who want to work in cleaning services can earn start at 1,000 euros per month.

“An increased interest during this period is for candidates with experience in the tourism and HoReCa sector. Employers abroad have had more than 500 jobs posted for the two industries in the last month and a half, and the salaries they offer start from 1,000 euros for waiters or hotel staff and can reach up to 4,000 euros if we are talking about chefs in restaurants on cruise ships or large hotel chains”, says Raluca Dumitra.

According to Salario data, the salary comparator, the salary averages for abroad in the fields that are now looking for the most candidates are as follows: 2,500 euros net for construction and installations, 2,000 euros net for transport and distribution, 1,800 euros for the food industry, 1,500 euro for production and for tourism / HoReCa and 1,600 euro for au pair / babysitting / cleaning.

While the interest of employers outside the country is increasing for Romanian candidates, they seem less and less attracted to the idea of working abroad. In this sense, of the 1.3 million applications registered since June 1 until now, only 19,000 went to jobs abroad. The number represents only 1.4% of the total applications for this reference period. Candidates in the 25-35 and 18-24 age groups and skilled and unskilled workers wanted to leave the most. The preferred destinations were the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria and France, and the fields that received the most applications were transport / logistics, retail, tourism, food industry and manufacturing. Almost a third of those who want to go to work abroad opted for seasonal jobs.

At the moment, 25,000 jobs are available on eJobs.ro, of which 2,000 are abroad.
