Samsung Changwon Hospital, ‘Anesthesia’ & ‘Intensive Care Unit’ Adequacy Grade 1

Samsung Changwon Hospital (Director Koh Kwang-cheol) received a first-class rating in the anesthesia and intensive care unit adequacy evaluation by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. In particular, it has received a first-class rating in the anesthesia adequacy evaluation for three consecutive times, including this evaluation.

In order to establish a safety management foundation for anesthesia patients and improve quality, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service conducted the first anesthesia adequacy evaluation in 2018 and the third evaluation this year. This evaluation was conducted on 1,079 medical institutions nationwide that had been billed for anesthesia fees more than 30 times from January to March last year.

As a result of the evaluation, Samsung Changwon Hospital received high scores in a total of 9 categories including ▲average monthly anesthesia time per anesthesiology and pain medicine specialist ▲operation of a recovery room ▲rate of patient evaluations before anesthesia ▲measurement of nausea and vomiting and pain scores in the recovery room, maintaining the 1st grade for the third consecutive time.

In addition, an assessment of the adequacy of intensive care units was conducted to improve the level of intensive care units and reduce the gap in quality of medical care between hospitals. The assessment of the adequacy of intensive care units was conducted based on the treatment of adult patients who were hospitalized in intensive care units for more than 48 hours from January to March of last year.

Samsung Changwon Hospital received high scores in all evaluation items, including ▲Number of intensive care unit beds per full-time specialist ▲Number of intensive care unit beds per nurse ▲Presence of specialized intensive care unit equipment and facilities ▲Infection control activities in intensive care unit ▲Intensive care unit mortality rate. In particular, this evaluation recorded even better results than the previous evaluation, proving the qualitative improvement of intensive care unit medical services.
