Samsung C&T Fashion Group announced on the 25th that its brand Balmain has conducted its first collaboration with The Walt Disney Company (hereinafter referred to as Disney) and released the ‘Disney X Balmain: Lion King’ collection.
This collaboration was created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of Disney’s classic The Lion King and to coincide with the December release of Mufasa: The Lion King. It was designed by Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing.
The collection is considered to be strong, showcasing Balmain’s sensual details and distinctive African elements.
Balmain has created a collection of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories inspired by the extraordinary storytelling and characters of ‘The Lion King’. The company explained that it has given a new touch by reflecting unique prints drawn by African painters, especially to highlight young African artists.
Representative products include hoodies, sweatpants, and loose-fitting T-shirts with animal prints and graphic designs reminiscent of characters and scenes from the work, as well as viscose knit cardigans and miniskirts with a zebra pattern added to the brand’s signature silhouette.
A handbag was also released that harmoniously combines prints by Cameroonian artist Enfant Précoce with gold metal details.
This collection will be available for global sale starting on the 8th, and domestically at the Galleria Department Store main branch.
