Samsung equips athletes with smartphones

The participants of the Olympic Games in Paris will each receive a folding smartphone Galaxy Z Flip6 in a special Olympic Edition from Samsung.

Samsung is making a big appearance this summer as a sponsor of the Olympic Games in Paris. From July 18, every athlete will receive a folding smartphone Galaxy Z Flip6 before the official market launch. For the first time, athletes will also be allowed to use these devices for photos and videos at the medal ceremony.

The “Olympic Edition” comes in a striking, bright yellow, decorated with the symbols of both games – the Olympic rings and the Paralympic Agitos in gold. The French luxury label Berluti has also designed a flipsuit case in Venezia leather.

On smartphones, AI functions such as the translator, the photo assistant or help with creating posts can support the athletes. Other apps offer information about the event and the schedules.

Thanks to the partnership with Orange, all Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition devices are equipped with an eSIM with 100 GB of 5G data. Samsung Wallet will also have an in-app pass that athletes can use to get free drinks from the vending machines in the Olympic and Paralympic Village. This is made possible by the cooperation with Coca-Cola. Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), as a partner of Samsung, will provide them with a free digital ticket that they can use to use all public transport at any time.
