Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 and AR glasses to launch in January 2025

It looks like we won’t just see new smartphones in January. Samsung is also expected to present a new smart ring and AR glasses.

Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 is coming

Galaxy Unpacked – Samsung’s launch event – will reportedly take place on January 22 in 2025. Here we expect the new Galaxy S25 line, consisting of the S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra and perhaps even the S25 Slim. What we didn’t expect, however, is the launch of the second Samsung smart ring.

Techwebsites DigiTimes reports that it is really coming. The Galaxy Ring 2 will get two extra sizes, to compete with parties such as Oura. The source also reports that the sensors are more precise and that the Ring 2 can handle artificial intelligence better. The battery life remains about the same at seven days.

It is not yet known whether the Ring 2 will have a new design, how much it will cost and when exactly it will be available for sale. It seems early to us for the launch of a new smart ring. The first Galaxy Ring was presented six months ago and has only been available for sale in the Netherlands since September. He costs 449 euro.

Samsung Galaxy AR glasses also coming

The source also says that Samsung will present AR glasses at Galaxy Unpacked 2025. It is official that Samsung is working on digital glasses. At the beginning of this month, the manufacturer shared that they are busy developing glasses for Android XR, the first virtual Android software for XR headsets.

We’ll have to wait a little longer for those thick (Apple Vision Pro-like) glasses. According to DigiTimes, Samsung will first present lighter smart glasses, such as the Ray-Ban Meta. These glasses do not have a screen, but they do have a camera and smart assistant on board.

Just like those smart glasses, the Samsung glasses weigh about 50 grams. Furthermore, it probably runs on a Snapdragon chip, because the manufacturer collaborates with Qualcomm and Google. Finally, the glasses will have built-in AI functions.

What else we can expect from Samsung’s smart glasses and Galaxy Ring 2 is still unknown. We will happily await the Galaxy Unpacked event and of course keep you informed of the latest developments.
