Samsung continues the trend of releasing Fan Edition (FE) phones, with the latest addition being the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. The novelty is designed to offer flagship features at a more affordable price. The Galaxy S24 FE strives to strike a balance between performance and value for money.
As can be expected, in order to achieve a lower price, the manufacturer has to make compromises, so it cannot be assumed that the FE version will be the same in terms of hardware as, for example, the S24 Plus. The S24 FE is a standalone model that maintains a modern and elegant design, reminiscent of the flagship models of the S24 series. The back of the phone is plastic, which helps keep costs down, but it still feels solid and high-quality, and you can’t tell at first glance. The frame of the mobile phone is metal, only with gently rounded edges at the top and bottom, which increases its durability. In addition to black, the device is also available in three pastel colors. The positive news is the IP68 certification. This ensures that the phone will not be damaged by spills, falling into puddles or staying in a dusty environment. It is reliable even in more demanding conditions of daily use. Overall, the design is clean and functional while offering a comfortable grip and lightness.
The new Galaxy S24 FE is equipped, like the S24 Plus, with a 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED display that provides vivid colors and deep shades of black. The display has a full HD+ resolution (1080 × 2340 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is ideal for playing games, streaming videos and browsing the Internet.The 120 Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and transitions.Although the resolution is not as high as the S24 Plus (1440 × 3120 pixels), the Galaxy S24 FE display will be satisfactory.
The device is powered by the Exynos 2400e processor, which provides more than sufficient performance and guarantees smooth operation, multitasking and playing games. Combined with 8 GB of RAM, the phone can easily handle most tasks without hesitation. 128GB of internal storage is available for data, expandable via microSD card, which is a big plus for users who need more space for apps, photos and videos. The device also supports 5G connection for fast internet transfers in the latest networks.
The equipment includes four cameras, 50 Mpx main wide-angle, 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle, 10 Mpx telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The performance of the camera is excellent in good lighting conditions, and the resulting photos are sharp and colorful. In low-light environments, the camera performs quite well, thanks mainly to Samsung’s night mode, which reduces noise and improves image clarity, but no miracles can be expected. And finally, the front camera has a resolution of 10 Mpx.
The novelty received a battery with a capacity of 4700 mAh (which is 200 mAh more than the predecessor S23 FE), which provides reliable endurance for the whole day with moderately intensive to more demanding use. The phone supports 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Not stellar but good in this category. Battery optimization features help extend battery life by managing background tasks and adjusting power settings as needed. This ensures that the phone lasts even during a demanding day without the need for charging.
The Galaxy S24 FE runs on One UI 6.1, which is built on top of Android 14. One UI is known for its clean and intuitive design, while offering plenty of customization options. Samsung’s software suite includes useful features such as Samsung DeX, which lets you connect your phone to a monitor for a desktop-like experience, and Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant.
One UI also provides enhanced security features such as Samsung Knox to keep your data safe. Regular software updates and security patches ensure that the phone remains up-to-date and secure even after a long time. The most significant innovation is Galaxy AI, i.e. functions working with artificial intelligence. We already know these from higher models and include, for example, Circle to Search, i.e. selecting and detecting objects on the screen, a photo assistant for improving photos, an assistant for transcription and notes, an assistant for conversations and an assistant for the browser. The software now also enables more advanced work with photo editing, such as changing the composition of the object, filling the background or converting a sketch to an image. Thanks to software optimizations, the 4 nm manufacturing process or sophisticated cooling with a steam chamber, the phone provides high performance in games and has no problem playing various streaming content. Thanks to the Vision Booster function and a brightness of up to 1200 nits, the display enables trouble-free use even in direct sunlight.
The new Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a versatile device that brings many flagship features at a more affordable price. Its excellent display, performance and flexible camera system make it an excellent choice for users looking for a premium experience without spending a lot of money. Although it may lack some of the luxury features of more expensive models, the S24 FE still offers very good value for its price.
