Samsung is launching a special edition of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The digital invitation for the unveiling has been shared, but Samsung does not appear to be bringing the special phone to the Netherlands. So we can look, watch, but not buy.

Samsung has been making folding phones for years and last summer the manufacturer launched its sixth generation of foldables: the Flip 6 and Fold 6. This year, however, Samsung is taking a different approach than usual, because another foldable device will be released. This concerns the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition.
The Special Edition will be released on October 21. Samsung shared the video below to announce the date. What stands out is the Korean language, because Samsung initially only launched the Special Edition in South Korea (and perhaps China). It is not yet known where the unveiling will take place, as is the exact time of the presentation.
In the video, see that the invitation is displayed on a Samsung folding phone. It is not clear whether this is the Special Edition. According to rumors, the new smartphone is not just a regular Fold 6 in a different color. The specifications of the Special Edition are also better than its ‘predecessor’.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition specifications
Although Samsung has not yet announced anything about the new Fold, we think we already know a lot. The SE is considerably thinner than the regular Fold 6. The smartphone goes from 12 to 10 millimeters when folded and from 6 to about 4 millimeters when unfolded. This makes the smartphone not as thin as Chinese competitors, but about as thick as the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The smartphone may also have larger screens, with an 8-inch display on the inside and 6.5 inches on the front. The larger housing makes room for a larger battery and perhaps a better main camera: 200 megapixels instead of 50 megapixels. The other cameras reportedly remain the same.
The Fold 6 Special Edition does not yet run on Android 15, the version released earlier this week. Samsung appears to be optimizing its software in the coming months. According to rumors, Samsung will still be running Android 14 until the spring of 2025. The manufacturer will provide the Fold 6 Special Edition with seven years of software updates.
