Samsung has entered new paths, it manufactures a solid state battery for mobile devices

There are ways to keep the battery from running out quickly on our cell phone, and in fact there are some tricks that we have more or less repeated here in his company myphone.gr, only now or Samsung Electro-Mechanics is testing a new type of solid-state battery for mobile devices. Unlike the lithium-ion batteries used today, liquid electrolytes are not required in a solid-state battery. The energy density of the solid-state battery, at 200 Wh/L, not only exceeds the density of lithium-ion batteries, but also has the highest density in the industry. Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics unit has been working on the solid-state battery for three years and has created a prototype that customers are currently testing.

The company’s plan is to have this solid-state battery ready to enter the mass production line by 2026. Designed for mobile devices, the solid-state battery could debut in the Galaxy Watch 9 in 2026. The same battery could be used to power other Samsung devices, including the Galaxy Buds and the Samsung Galaxy Ring. Solid state batteries are less likely to overheat, a huge safety improvement. They also have a longer life and higher energy density.

Another advantage of these batteries is that they can be made in different shapes, which may help with design changes for many phones in the future. Samsung is seeking to protect its lead over other tech companies in this segment of the battery market, having filed more than 40 patent applications related to oxide-based solid-state batteries.

Clearly, however, manufacturers are looking for a way to replace lithium-ion batteries, and Samsung appears to be very close to achieving its goal. The solid state battery can be produced in sizes ranging from millimeters to centimeters depending on the needs of each customer. In fact, the South Korean company says that for the production of these batteries, it would use the production technology of multilayer ceramic capacitors which alternately prints thin layers of material and then stacks them.

Among the positives of solid state batteries are the low levels of carbon footprints, which makes them safer for the environment. They can also operate over a wider range of temperatures.
