Health Monitor on older mobile phones

If you are using an older operating system and want to keep track of your health data, the solution is to reach for an alternative. In the Google Play Store, you will find a number of third-party applications that can at least partially replace the Samsung Health Monitor application.

Samsung recently released an update to the Samsung Health Monitor app. Regular updates are important for security, but also for new features. However, this update also brought with it some not-so-good news. After installing the update, users will receive a support notification. The notice states that the Samsung Health Monitor app will not be supported on Android 11 or earlier mobiles.

What does this mean for users?

The app, which is used to track health and physical activity, will now only be able to run on Samsung devices running Android 12 or later. It also means you won’t be able to use the Galaxy Watch to measure blood pressure and EKG, as older phones will no longer support these features.

To use the full version of Samsung Health Monitor, you must have a newer Samsung device. The company also added that the current version of the app will continue to work on older mobiles, but with limitations. Users can also say goodbye to new features that will be added to the app over time.

Why older apps are losing support

This evolution is natural and occurs in many applications. So Samsung is certainly not the only one withdrawing support for older mobile phones. The reason is simple. Adding new functions also means higher demands on the operating system or mobile hardware. However, older devices do not meet these increased demands.
