Samsung is fighting with the production of the Exynos 2500 chipset for the Galaxy S25 series

Until January Samsung will have everything ready to launch Galaxy S25 series with Exynos chip for vanilla and Plus versions and Snapdragon for the top Ultra model.

Reports from Korea have revealed that this may not be the case and the company may have to use Snapdragon chips across its entire portfolio. The reason is that Samsung is facing low performance of the Exynos 2500 chip and may not be able to build enough units in time for release.

Reading the foreign press, we learn that Samsung Foundry is “underperforming” in terms of the 3nm process, but failed to report exact numbers. In the chip industry, performance is never 100%, but more importantly, not all chips pass quality certification, so it varies from production line to production line.

If all this turns out to be correct, then Samsung really going for exclusive use of only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (also expected to arrive as the Snapdragon 8 Elite), would be yet another blow to the semiconductor business. The Korean company has already lost orders from Nvidia and Apple as those companies turned to TSMC for its AI-enabled chips.
