WhatsApp will soon no longer work on old smartphones and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim has been leaked. This is the most important Android news of the week.
‘WhatsApp will no longer work on these phones in 2025’
Using an old smartphone is not recommended for several reasons. Consider, for example, software that is not secured or apps that are no longer supported. The latter will soon also apply to WhatsApp. Phones running Android 4.4 (KitKat) or older will no longer be able to use the messaging app from January 1, 2025.
Rest assured, because many of the smartphones that still run on KitKat are more than ten years old. Consider, for example, the Samsung Galaxy S3 from 2012 and the Motorola Moto G and Sony Xperia Z from 2013.

‘See: first images of foldable OnePlus Open 2’
It has been no secret for some time that OnePlus is working on a successor to its folding phone, the OnePlus Open. The foldable device previously appeared in rumors and now images have also been leaked. Website Smartprix publishes the renders of the OnePlus Open 2. The images show the smartphone in full glory and are based on a prototype.
At first glance, the Open 2 looks very similar to its predecessor. We see the characteristic (and large) camera island on the back again. The Hasselblad logo has been moved to a different location and is now at the bottom. The housing is less square and has rounder corners than the first OnePlus Open.

‘Thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will have a large battery after all’
Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 family at the end of January, but we will have to wait a little longer for one new member. Between April and June, the Korean manufacturer is rumored to add an extra thin device to the series. More and more details are trickling in.
According to tasty Debayan Roy For example, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, as the smartphone would be called, will have a large battery. Although the housing is only 6 to 7 millimeters thick, it still fits a battery of 4700 to 5000 mAh.

Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 and AR glasses to launch in January 2025
Galaxy Unpacked – Samsung’s launch event – will reportedly take place on January 22 in 2025. Here we expect the new Galaxy S25 line, consisting of the S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra and perhaps even the S25 Slim. What we didn’t expect, however, is the launch of the second Samsung smart ring.
DigiTimes reports that the Galaxy Ring 2 is really coming. The Ring 2 will get two extra sizes, to compete with parties such as Oura. The source also reports that the sensors are more precise and that the Ring 2 can handle artificial intelligence better.
