Samsung CryptoCore, a Samsung cryptographic module, provides enhanced data security on display products
Today, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced that its original cryptography module is Samsung CryptoCore(1) won the prestigious FIPS 140-3 certificate(2) National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This certificate confirms Samsung’s commitment to industry-leading security and data protection for Smart TV users.

Samsung CryptoCore will be fully integrated into Tizen OS from 2025,(3) Samsung’s operating system for Smart TV devices, which will improve the security of key products such as televisions, monitors and digital display products. With Samsung CryptoCore built into Tizen OS, personal data associated with Samsung accounts will be securely encrypted, authentication information for SmartThings will be protected from external hacker threats, and content viewed on TV devices will benefit from enhanced copyright protection.
Since 2015, Samsung has equipped its Smart TV devices with Samsung Knox,(4) a security platform that has received the Common Criteria (CC) certificate for 10 years in a row(5). With the newly acquired FIPS 140-3 certification, Samsung has further strengthened defenses against hacking and unauthorized access to data and proactively protects personal information with advanced cryptography technology.
FIPS 140-3 certification recognized by governments in 10 countries(6) requires extensive testing of cryptographic modules that confirms their security, integrity and reliability. This means for users that Samsung Smart TVs offer state-of-the-art privacy protection and allow them to enjoy content, connect smart devices and use IoT services safely and worry-free.
