Samsung will release its first smart glasses in the summer of 2025, according to a new rumor. The device has artificial intelligence and a 12 megapixel camera.
‘Smart glasses from Samsung on the way’
After its Galaxy Ring, Samsung is working on the next new product: smart glasses. According to the South Korean newspaper Maeil Business Newspaper should be released in the third quarter of next year. The company would initially produce around 500,000 units.
The glasses run on a Qualcomm AR1 chip and have Gemini AI from Google. This allows you to ask questions that are answered directly by the device through a built-in speaker. There is also a 12 megapixel camera on board. This will probably allow you to take photos and livestream via a connected smartphone. This is also possible with the Ray-Ban glasses from competitor Meta.
The frame is said to weigh 50 grams and contain a 155 mAh battery. You can probably buy prescription lenses for them, so that people who already wear glasses can use them.
It is not yet clear what other functions Samsung’s smart glasses will have. In any case, you can use it to make mobile payments. For example, it is possible to scan QR codes and the device may also contain NFC.
First glimpse in January?
Although they won’t be available for sale until the summer of next year, we will probably see the glasses sooner. The Maeil Business Newspaper speculates that Samsung will show it during the presentation of its Galaxy S25 series in January.
If the official release is indeed scheduled for the third quarter of 2025, it may coincide with Samsung’s new foldable smartphones. We expect the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 in July or August.
