The former president of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, challenges Luís Montenegro to maintain the “no” to Chega and not distort the State Budget.
Questioned by Renascença, on the sidelines of the “Festival Utopia”, in Braga, about the proposal to change the AD for a two percentage point drop in IRC in the State Budget – also defended by Chega – Santos Silva says he hopes the Prime Minister do not allow the document approved by the PS to be distorted in the specialty.
“What I think is that, to the extent that the prime minister said – in my opinion, well – that he doesn’t want anything to do with the extreme right, as long as he doesn’t use it to approve measures that would go against the spirit that allowed the viability of the budget,” he said.
The former Minister of Culture also considers that Justice is a sector where a “25th of April” has not yet occurred.
In Augusto Santos Silva’s opinion, there needs to be greater productivity and at the same time implement justice reform.
“I think that if there is one area in which the 25th of April has not yet happened, it is the area of Justice. The major justice reform still needs to be carried out. We have made major reforms in the political regime, in the electoral system, in our economic structure, in the qualifications structure, in schools, but there is no equivalent reform in the area of justice. I think this is a very important goal for the coming years. So we continue with a problem that has been with us for many years, which is the problem of productivity. We derive less income from our work, our effort, our resources, than we could and should,” he explained.
