Siemens Digital Industries Software announced that Sat Nusapersadaone of the largest electronics manufacturing service (EMS) providers in Indonesia, has implemented its process preparation software to reduce the time frame for new product introduction (NPI) for printed circuit board assembly and increase the efficiency of its production lines for surface mount technology by 23 percent.

Sat Nusapersada was established in 1990 as the first high-tech EMS listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange and provides trusted services to large enterprise customers including Asus, Xiaomi, Murata and Epson. Based on customer demand and business growth, Sat Nusapersada expanded its surface mount technology (SMT) lines to 24. With the increase in production capacity and the number of RFQs per month, Sat Nusapersada needed to reduce manual work, especially in new product introductions (NPIs).

After an extensive evaluation of Sat, Nusapersada implemented Process Preparation software from Siemens, which enables customers to keep assembly, test and inspection data up-to-date in a single environment for all phases of the surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing process – significantly reducing the need for error-prone manual updates that can cause consistency and reliability issues.

By implementing process preparation from Siemens, Sat Nusapersada achieved a significant increase in their production capacity, which combined with a reduction in manual rework, allows them to better serve customers and deliver critical electronics to them on the dates that today’s industry demands.

After implementing Sat, Nusapersada benefited from reducing the time to collect all input data for projects by 70% and increasing line efficiency by 23%. Using Siemens Process Preparation also helped Sat Nusapersada reduce SMT job programming time by 21 percent (line configuration setup, common feeder, data output/transfer, moving existing product between lines of different equipment brands). Design time for solder patterns has been reduced by 30% thanks to the use of learning libraries that automatically set the correct hole shape and size for new footprints.
