Save Fenin, it’s a matter of life! Czechs call on a heavy alcoholic to come to his senses – Other – Football

A great footballer, but a troubled person. Martin Fenin, once a great talent of Czech football, is ruining his life. Alcohol.

As a great talent, he had a bright career ahead of him. After he shone at the Under-20 World Cup, big clubs like Arsenal, Juventus and Liverpool wanted him.

Finally, he signed for Eintracht Frankfurt. At first he played excellently, but then his life began to fall apart. Bit on fire, fights, other problems.

Then he tried it in Cottbus, Slavia Prague or in the third French league, but his career declined. The former offensive star loses not on the lawn, but with a glass in his hand.

“Yes, I’m drinking again. Every day since I got out of the hospital,” admitted the former Czech representative to the German Bild.

At first it looked like the treatment stay helped him. When he gave an interview to the portal iSport.cz, he said that he felt much better.

“I’m very calm. It makes me feel good when I’m around people who drink and I don’t drink. It gives me a lot of self-confidence. On the one hand, therapists understand that someone can be set up like this, but on the other hand, they say it’s terribly dangerous.

Because booze is near. But it helps me a lot. When I say no, then no! I don’t believe in coincidences in life. So I think that’s how it was meant to be. That the circle has simply come full circle and I’m starting again from scratch.”

But it looks like Fenin is drunk again. He was also affected by last year’s divorce, when his ex-wife left him with her little daughter.

“Now I watch YouTube all day and drink Jägermeister to ward off sadness. I love my daughter very much. Sooner or later I will drink myself to death,” he shocked in his confession to Bild.

His words shocked many fans, especially in the Czech Republic. On social networks, they urge him to come to his senses and not give up the fight against alcoholism.

The comment written by the editor of the iSport.cz portal Štěpán Filípek is in a similar spirit.

“But it really can’t go on like this. Help who else you can, save Fenin! But most of all, Martin, you have to want and do it yourself. Don’t write a party ahead of time, tear it up, remember! After all, this is really about life…,” writes a Czech journalist in an emotional comment.

He reminds Fenin that the most will depend on his efforts.

“Martin, come to your senses! After all, you matter the most. If you don’t want to yourself, it won’t work. Every piece of advice from someone who hasn’t been spinning in a vicious circle like you can sound cheap, but still: find some kind of fulfillment, meaning in life and stick with it.

Do not harbor real or imagined grievances that someone has hurt you, be it the tabloids or anyone else. If you’re even more devastated by the divorce, do everything you can to see your daughter again. To give you a sufficient guarantee that he will be safe with you.

You can’t be surprised that it doesn’t work now. Do it, find the strength – if not for yourself, then for her. So that she wouldn’t be ashamed of her father. So that she still has him. I have no right to talk into your life. But this is quite possibly the last chance. So change it – and tear it apart,” writes Filípek.

Fenin’s last club was FK Řeporyje, which plays in the Prague 1.A class. He transferred there from Slavia in 2020.
