Saying goodbye does exist: these cars will disappear from the market in 2024

When does a model disappear, and when is he succeeded? That is not always clear. Just look at the Bugatti Chiron. That hypercar has not been built since May 2024, but it did not remain without a successor. Just as the Veyron previously made way for the Chiron, the latter has passed the baton to the Tourbillion this year. Lamborghini’s Huracán is also no more. This in turn has been replaced by the Temerario. Since this year, the traditional Audi A4 and A6 no longer exist. The A4 Limousine and A4 Avant have been given a new generation and are now part of the A5 family. In 2025, the A6 with combustion engines will make way for new models that are members of the A7 club. The model name A6 was adopted this year by the fully electric Audi A6 e-tron. An Audi that does fall into the ‘disappeared models’ category is the R8. That sister model of the Huracán is out of production and has not received a successor. Ferrari: Roma and SF90 Not very relevant, but still worth mentioning. The closed Ferrari Roma is no longer available. Still the Roma Spider. Ferrari is working hard behind the scenes on a successor, which appears to be simply a revised variant of the Roma duo. Also taken off the menu: the SF90 Stradale. We cannot imagine that we will disappoint many potential buyers with this message. Fisker Ocean In this case, one man’s death is no one’s bread and butter. Fisker has gone bankrupt (again), resulting in the curtain falling on the Ocean. It was also introduced in the Netherlands and 68 more copies were delivered. The future Fiskers, announced with much fanfare, will also not see the light of day. FiskerOcean. Fiat 500 Hybrid The electric Fiat 500e is still very much alive. Although…plenty? Fiat regularly stops production of that electric model. The Fiat 500 Hybrid is no longer available at all since this year. Underneath, it was strongly linked to the 500 model presented in 2007 and did not survive the introduction of the GSR II regulations. There will be a new Fiat 500 with mild-hybrid combustion engines, but that won’t arrive until the end of 2025 at the earliest. Striking: Fiat has adapted the old Panda to survive the introduction of the GSR II. Fiat 500. Lexus LC Large, luxurious, open or closed and with a V8 or with a hybrid drivetrain with V6. We are talking about the Lexus LC. The Lexus LC, which was launched in the Netherlands in 2020, will leave the Dutch car market in 2024. The Japanese are working on a new electric top model, but that seems to be something completely different from the LC. In the Netherlands, 70 LCs have been registered in recent years. Honda E More small, cuddly and electrified. In December 2023, Honda’s European branch decided to put an end to the supply of the Honda E. The cute Hondaatje was available from stock for a while this year, but has now really disappeared from Europe. The Honda E also did not receive a direct successor. Only 168 copies were delivered in the Netherlands. Honda E. Jaguar: almost everything The Jaguar of the past is no longer the Jaguar of today. The result: the brand has put an end to virtually all its models. The E-Pace, XF, XE, E-Pace and I-Pace are all out of production or will be soon. The F-Pace may last a little longer, but that model also does not have a long future ahead of it. Jaguar XE. Mazda 6 The curtain has fallen for the Mazda 6. The model was presented in 2012 and all in all it has had a respectable career. The middle class will most likely be succeeded by a new model, although in theory there is little Mazda about it. The new electric sedan presented in China as Mazda EZ-6 will probably come our way as ‘6th’, but that is actually Mazda’s version of an electric model from the Chinese Changan. Mini Clubman. Mini Clubman Mini is busy. It has added an electric three-door to its delivery range, which in addition to the thoroughly redesigned three-door, five-door and Cabrio Minis with combustion engines. There is no electric five-door Mini, for which the brand has come up with the brand new Aceman. And the Mini Clubman? That station wagon last closed its characteristic split doors in 2024. Mitsubishi Space Star GSR II has claimed more victims. The Space Star, which came onto the market in 2012, is no more. At least, there are still some copies available from stock, but that means the Space Star adventure really comes to an end after more than 12 years. One of the cheapest new cars in the Netherlands disappears from the scene. Porsche: Macan and 718 The electric Porsche Macan Electric has pushed the Macan with petrol engines out of existence. At least, it received help from the GSR II regulations. The old Macan no longer met these requirements and Porsche did not find it necessary to upgrade the Macan with combustion engines. The brand now seems to somewhat regret this. The 718 family also practically no longer exists. Only the 718 Spyder RS and 718 GT4 RS are left. Seat Tarraco and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace You will no longer find a Tiguan Allspace in the Volkswagen showrooms and the related Seat cousin is also no longer available. The two SUVs will not remain completely without successors, but their model names will no longer return. For example, the Tiguan Allspace has been succeeded by the Volkswagen Tayron and the Cupra Terramar is in a sense the SUV that takes over from the Seat Tarraco. Seat Tarraco Suzuki: Ignis and Jimny Due to GSR II, we lost more models. We shed a tear for the cheerful Ignis and the no-nonsense Jimny. There are also no successors in the offing for this pair. Suzuki Ignis. Renault: Twingo, Zoe, Mégane and Express The list of GSR II victims is getting even longer. We also conclude our overview with this. We all lost the Renault Twingo, Zoe, Mégane and the relatively young Express on paper this year. What about successors? Here we go. The Twingo will eventually get an electric successor, the Zoe has in a sense made way for the 5 E-Tech Electric and the model name Megane lives on without a hyphen on the electric Megane E-Tech Electric. The Express will not have a successor, but the more expensive Kangoo alternative will continue to exist. It’s over for the Mégane Estate. Toyota GR86 When the Toyota GR86 was introduced, the Dutch importer made it clear that the model would only be available here for two years. It turned out not to be a lie. The GR86 has become unsellable due to GSR-II. The curtain has fallen and there will be no successor. Big brother Toyota Supra no longer has a long career ahead of it. Toyota GR86. The Ford Focus is in the doldrums and will disappear from the market in 2025. Which automotive farewell makes your car heart bleed?
