Scalpers want 20,000 kroner for PS5 Pro

Yesterday we got the prices for the Playstation 5 Pro, as well as the limited anniversary edition of the consoles. Retailers have set the price at around SEK 10,490 for the Pro model, while the anniversary edition lands closer to SEK 15,000. The anniversary-themed Slim model costs around SEK 7,000.

The consoles were fully booked in a flash and entrepreneurs have already started to appear who sell the consoles to overpriced on Ebaywhich they will send buyers when they are released on November 7th.

There are already hundreds of PS5 Pro listings on the auction page, with prices ranging from $1,300 to $2,600. The prices are preliminary and may rise depending on bidding, as well as if shipping is not included. For the anniversary models, the prices are even higher – a limited edition Pro console costs between 3,000 and 6,000 USD, or between 30,000 and 60,000 kroner.

The most expensive ad on the site is a bundle variant that includes the console, two controllers, a disc reader and a charging station for the controllers. The price is almost 17,000 USD, equivalent to 170,000 kroner.

Tomas Helenius, editor at FZ, is not entirely fond of scalpers’ tactics, but at the same time there is not much that can be done about it.

– Sad if the real enthusiasts are left out because someone is trying to make money. But that’s how the free market works: you decide for yourself what you want to buy and sell, and at what price. One might think that Sony should meet the demand with more consoles, but on the other hand, the value of the console lies precisely in the limited number, he says.

On the Swedish Ebay equivalent Tradera, no ads have yet appeared, but on Blocket ads have started to appear, but not as many as on Ebay.

On The block a Playstation 5 Pro is sold for SEK 15,000, significantly higher than the retailer’s price of SEK 10,490. There are also two ads for Slim models in anniversary theme, both with a price of around 10,000 kroner, which is higher than the official price of 7,000 kroner.
