Romania’s footballers were close to advancing to the B-division of the League of Nations on Friday. A draw with Kosovo was enough for them, and the development of the match in Bucharest was favorable for the home team. With the score 0:0, however, the fans rioted at the end, and the fate of the duel and the progress of the Romanians is unclear at the moment.

Kosovars are sensitive to pro-Serbian provocations.
Friday’s game was abandoned in extra time after Kosovo players walked off the field after hearing pro-Serbian chants from the home fans.
The Kosovans headed to the dressing room in the 93rd minute after the home fans chanted: “Serbia! Serbia!’
This was followed by a sharp exchange of views between Kosovo captain Amir Rrahmani and Romanian forward Denis Alibec.
They later ended the match early when the visitors refused to return to the pitch. UEFA said it would “announce further information in due course”.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008 and is recognized by more than 100 countries, but not Romania.
“This is too much,” Rrahmani told a news conference. “Everyone must know that Kosovo is Kosovo, or Kosovo is Albania. That’s all. It ends here.’
The coach of the Romanians, Mircea Lucescu, said that the Kosovo footballers did not finish the duel on purpose.
“I’m sorry and I don’t understand that it happened. I wouldn’t expect a match like this at this level to end like this. From my point of view, it’s unacceptable. Nothing was said about Kosovo the whole match, there were no banners, there was absolutely nothing .
It can be seen from their behavior that they were prepared for such a situation. What they did is a stain on their professionalism,” the website cotidianul.ro quoted him as saying.
Last year, the Romanian Football Federation was fined by UEFA for chanting pro-Serbia and displaying a banner with the inscription “Kosovo is Serbia”.
This happened during a Euro 2024 qualifier between these countries at the same stadium.
Last month, UEFA fined the Kosovo Football Federation a total of 61,000 euros for incidents during September’s Nations League match against Romania in Pristina.
