American technology billionaire Elon Musk’s friendship with the extreme right “endangers” democracy in Europe, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said today.
– He supports the extreme right everywhere in Europe, in Great Britain, in Germany, in many, many other countries, and this is something that is completely unacceptable – Scholz said at a press conference in Berlin, as reported by the Brussels portal Politiko.
The German chancellor said that “it endangers the democratic development of Europe”, as well as it endangers the community and that it “must be criticized”.
Scholz said that he is not against Musk expressing his freedom of speech, but that it is “unacceptable” for him to take a far-right side, “either for business interests or for reasons related to his political position.”
The social democratic chancellor’s comments are the latest in an ongoing feud with Musk, who in turn called Scholz a “fool” on social media, claiming that he will lose the German federal elections, which are scheduled for February 23, writes Politiko.
