Today, the court did not grant bail to the disgraced and excommunicated American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, so he remains in custody until the trial.

The prosecution is a 55-year-old Seana »Diddyja« Combsa accused of several crimes, including sexually abusing women, allegedly forcing them into sexual parties with threats and violence. He is currently in custody awaiting trial, which will begin on May 5 next year. Diddy’s lawyers asked the District Court in Manhattan to release their protégé on $50 million (€47 million) bail pending trial, but a district judge Arun Subramanian rejected their request yesterday.

Diddy has been in custody in Brooklyn, New York for 10 weeks. This is the third time that the infamous rapper has been denied bail and released from custody. Diddy, accused by prosecutors of using his business empire, including the music label Bad Boy Entertainment, to sexually abuse women, denies all allegations. Among other things, he is accused of extortion, human trafficking for sexual purposes and transporting victims across national borders to engage in prostitution. His defenders claim that they are all his “sexual activities,” described in detail in the indictment, took place with the consent of the alleged victims.

Diddy’s defense attorneys sought to have the rapper granted house arrest in his Manhattan apartment, where he would be under constant surveillance by private security guards he would pay out of his own pocket. At the same time, he would be prevented from contacting alleged victims and witnesses. The prosecution, on the other hand, argued that Diddy probably would not have followed these rules, as he had already broken the rules with the help of fellow inmates while in custody. The prosecution also warned of the danger that he would resort to violence while at large. At the same time, they reminded that in 2016 he brutally beat his former partner in the hotel Casandro Venturawhich was recorded by the hotel’s surveillance cameras. Justice Subramanian nodded to the prosecution.
