iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 – which one to choose?

Apple has released the next generation of its iconic smartphone. Although both versions, iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, enjoy high quality and modern design, users may wonder whether the latest model actually introduces significant changes that justify the switch. For people who are looking for a smartphone for a long time, the choice between the new iPhone and last year’s version may be crucial.

The decision which model to choose – iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 – comes down to the individual needs of the user. The new phone introduces a number of improvements in areas such as performance, camera, battery life and build quality. Is it worth investing in the iPhone 16, or is it better to save and stay with the iPhone 15? We present a detailed comparison of both models to help you make your decision.

Design and quality of workmanship

In terms of appearance, both models continue Apple’s elegant, minimalist style, but the iPhone 16 brings subtle design changes. Both models have aluminum frames and a glass back cover. They offer solid workmanship and a pleasant, matte “feeling” to the touch. However, the new model introduces fresher color variants and a changed camera arrangement in vertical orientation.

It is worth adding that although the dimensions of both devices are identical (147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm), the iPhone 16 is slightly lighter, weighing 170 g, while the iPhone 15 weighs 171 g. This small difference is probably not significant. however, of greater importance.

Display – smoothness and image quality

The displays on both models provide good image quality, but the iPhone 16 offers minor improvements. Both devices have a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2556 x 1179 pixels, which ensures image sharpness of 461 PPI. The refresh rate is 60 Hz and the brightness reaches an impressive 2000 nits, which guarantees excellent visibility even on sunny days.

Even though both displays look similar, iPhone 16 introduces slightly more vivid colors and better HDR brightness, which multimedia lovers will appreciate.

Performance and processor

In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 clearly stands out thanks to its newer processor. iPhone 15 is powered by the A16 Bionic chip (4 nm), which offers a 6-core processor and a 5-core GPU. It is a system that easily copes with many applications and intensive use, providing great energy efficiency.

However, iPhone 16 is equipped with a new 3nm A18 chip, which is even more advanced. Thanks to this, it provides higher computing power and better energy efficiency, which will be especially appreciated by people using graphics or video editing applications on smartphones. Additionally, the iPhone 16 has 8GB RAM, which is an improvement over the 6GB in the iPhone 15. It certainly ensures a smoother system experience with multiple apps open at the same time.

Camera – new photographic possibilities

Mobile photography is another area where the iPhone 16 brings improvements. Both iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 are equipped with a 48 MP main camera with Sensor-shift OIS technology, which ensures image stabilization and high quality photos even in low light.

However, iPhone 16 also offers an improved 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a larger f/2.2 aperture, which allows it to capture more light and therefore take better photos in difficult lighting conditions. This is a clear step up from the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera in the iPhone 15, which has an f/2.4 aperture.

Battery and charging

In terms of battery, the iPhone 16 introduces slightly more capacity. iPhone 15 is equipped with a 3349 mAh battery, which allows for all-day operation with moderate use. iPhone 16, in turn, has a battery with a capacity of 3561 mAh, which translates into a slightly longer operating time on one charge.

Both models support fast wired charging with a power of 20 W, as well as MagSafe wireless charging with a power of 15 W.

Price and availability – investment profitability

Price is one of the deciding factors for many users. iPhone 15 is available at a price of PLN 3,499, which makes it an affordable choice for people looking for a solid Apple smartphone without spending a fortune. For the cheapest version of iPhone 16 we have to pay PLN 500 more.
