See who are the donors of letters in Cyrillic Park

BANJALUKA – The Cyrillic alphabet park in Banja Luka was recently officially opened, and the public finally got the chance to see who are the donors of the letters that were installed in the so-called “Kupusište”.

The construction of this park was accompanied by various controversies, and one of them was precisely related to the “sale” of letters that were placed as installations/toys at that location and serve to entertain children. Questionable was the price, the way in which the letters are “sold”, as well as the choice of the company that will be in charge of making the letters.

Despite these remarks, the administration of Mayor Draško Stanivuković implemented this project and the park was officially opened in the last days of September.

The letters have been placed, and next to them there are plaques on which it is stated who are the donors of those letters. However, some names still remained unknown, given that the eight letters instead of the name of the donor on the plaque read the same sentence: “Banjaluci with love!”

When it comes to the other letters, the donors are specified, and one of them is the mayor Stanivuković himself. He gave the park the letter S.

When it comes to other donors, they are individuals and companies, including those to whom the City of Banjaluka has awarded lucrative jobs in previous years, such as “Graditelj Teslić”, “ABC solutions”, “Gradip” and “Kozaraputevi”.

Among the donors is the company “Hidroenergo”, whose co-owners are the current SPS councilor Saša Kondić and businessman Jelenko Lolić, who is close to the family of Mayor Stanivuković.

The list of donors includes the companies “Metromedija”, “Nestro”, “Delta”, “Moja apoteka”, “Tehnoprom”, “M:tel”, “Dunav osiguranje” and “Euroherc”.

Reliance on donors

The construction of Cyrillic Park was not fully financed by the City of Banja Luka, so it is not clear exactly how much money was spent. Unlike other similar projects implemented by the City of Banja Luka, companies and individuals who bought letters and donated them to the Cyrillic Park played a key role in this one.

In public addresses, Stanivuković often invited them to buy letters and thus become participants in the realization of that project. These invitations were followed by announcements on the City of Banjaluka’s website, in which specific instructions and the person responsible for the implementation on behalf of the City were stated.

This very “sale” of letters was non-transparent, because it was not clear how much one letter would cost, the method of payment, and how the company was chosen to make the letters.

Namely, according to estimates, the donors should have donated 30 letters for the Cyrillic Park worth about 300,000 KM, which means that one letter should cost about 10,000 KM on average. It is not known exactly how much the donors paid for the letters.

Namely, as previously announced by some media, the price depended on whether it was paid in cash or by bank transfer.

“The letters are handmade and cost 10,000 KM. They are made by the company “Procesno” (‘Process equipment and engineering’ op. a.) from Trnava. They can be placed with a plate with the customers’ names or some coded message, as you wish. We have two payment options. You can pay by cash or bank transfer. Given that everything goes through the Youth Association, in the case of giraral payment, you pay an additional 1,000 KM. So, 11,000 KM. So far, no one has asked us for a bill, but we counted on that option. If it goes smoothly, you can enter into a contract with the Youth Association and they will give you a receipt with a seal. If it goes in cash, then even I, who am an adviser to the mayor, can see something with them for you with a seal”, it was stated in the text published by the portal Journal.info.

We remind you that the City of Banjaluka allocated 178,889 KM including VAT for the construction of paths and lighting in Cyrillic Park. The job was won by the group of bidders “Kozaraputevi” and “ABC solutons”, companies that are also donors of one letter each in Cyrillic Park.
