Self-interested quarters are inciting to mislead forces: Ansar DG

Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud said that at present there is an attempt to mislead some members of the VDP forces through wrong information, some vested interests are inciting. All volunteer members are requested to act in accordance with the law and maintain discipline of the force.

He said this while talking to reporters at the headquarters of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force in Khilgaon of the capital on Monday afternoon.

The director general of Ansar forces said that there is currently an attempt to mislead some members of the VDP forces through misinformation, especially by certain vested interests about their recruitment pattern, basic functions and legal rights from the force.

Requesting all the volunteer members to work according to the lawful principles and maintain the discipline of the forces, he said that Ansar and VDP forces are working side by side for the development of the country with its reputation and are always committed to be an active partner in the formation of new Bangladesh.

He said that Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces (VDP) have been continuously contributing to the socio-economic development as the largest voluntary forces in the country. The main objective of the formation of VDP was to play a voluntary role in the establishment of village-based self-reliant societies, social development and public safety. Formed in 1976, the force was given a streamlined structure through the VDP Act of 1995 and an opportunity to contribute more effectively to the public service.

Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud also said that audio-visual content is being added to make the basic training more modern and interesting, which will make the training simple and effective. A plan has been adopted to give priority to ordinary Ansar posts among the able-bodied members who will make special contribution as volunteers.

In order to increase the future efficiency, quality improvement of Ansar-VDP technical training is being included in the reform program on a priority basis in coordination with Directorate of Youth Development, PKSF, Technical Training Center, Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Expatriate Welfare, added the DG of Ansar and Village Defense Forces.

Major General Abdul Motaleb said, after the completion of this training, the VDP Development Bank will be with the members for financial support to become independent, from which unsecured loan facilities will be available. Certain indicators have been set for quality and qualitative training of VDP team leaders and team leaders to enhance their skills at the grassroots level and play a more effective role in social protection.

He said, in fact, Ansar and VDP forces are working towards the country’s human resource development, socio-economic progress, digitization and political accountability and transparency of its members. Various development programs are continuing for the promotion training and professional skills of the officers and employees of the force.
