The temperature dropped significantly on the morning of the 6th, and the first frost of the fall occurred in some areas, including Seoul. On the 7th, which is Ipdong (立冬), the temperature is expected to drop further, with the minimum temperature in the metropolitan area, including Seoul, falling to minus 3 degrees.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 6th, the first frost of the fall fell in Seoul on this day due to the influence of cold air from the north of the Korean Peninsula. It is 2 days earlier than last year and 9 days later than the average year. The first frost occurred on this day in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Daejeon, Cheongju-si, Chungbuk, and Andong-si, Gyeongbuk. The first ice was observed this fall in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.

The 7th is the beginning of winter, one of the 24 solar terms. On this day, the lowest temperature in the metropolitan area, including Seoul, was forecast to be -3 degrees to -4 degrees, and the highest temperature was forecast to be 13 to 15 degrees. The Korea Meteorological Administration said, “Frost will fall in most of the inland areas of the country, and the minimum temperature will drop below zero and ice will form in various parts of the inland areas of the central, Honam, and Gyeongbuk regions.”

This late fall cold is expected to ease somewhat starting on the 8th, and temperatures are expected to return to normal levels in most areas of the country. On the 8th, the lowest temperature in Seoul and other metropolitan areas was forecast to be 0 to 7 degrees and the highest temperature to be 15 to 18 degrees.
