In Zurich, the players of Serbia defended the third place in Group 4 A of the League of Nations – they sent Switzerland to a lower rank and remained in the game for the number two position.
It was 1:1 at “Lecigrund”, and Aleksa Terzić scored a goal worthy of a draw for the “eagles” from a counter attack ten minutes before the end.
At 0:0, Switzerland had better chances, and then Aleksandar Mitrović missed the penalty that he forced in the 55th minute.
The penalty came in the 78th minute, when Zeki Amdun shook the Serbian net attractively, and then the Swiss chased the second goal…
They were awarded a counter in the 88th when Terzić used Dušan Vlahović’s pass.
Serbia also benefited from the result from Copenhagen, where Spain was better than Denmark – 2:1.
The champion of Europe celebrated with goals from Mikel Ojarzabal and Ayos Peres, the only scorer for the hosts was Gustav Isaksen.
Before the end of the round, Serbia has two points less than the Danes – if they beat them in Leskovac on Monday, they will advance to the quarterfinals.
Portugal outclassed Poland 5:1 (two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, one each from Rafael Lea, Bruno Fernandes and Pedro Neto), while Croatia was defeated by Scotland in Glasgow – 1:0.
“Vatreni” had one less player for the entire second half (Petar Sučić was sent off in the 44th minute), and John Meggin secured the victory for the Scots in the 86th minute.
Portugal secured the quarter-finals from the first position, Croatia is close, but still has to wait for promotion.
