Serbian natural cosmetics boom – Better Earth

In Serbia, there is a growing interest in the production of natural cosmetics. In the previous two years alone, 60 new companies were registered in this sector. This is an impressive figure, considering the relative youth of this type of cosmetics production in our region.

At the seminar and panel discussion entitled “From plant to brand”, which was organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), it was pointed out that Serbia provides favorable conditions for the production of raw materials for natural cosmetics. Dimitrije Jovanović, head of the department for organic production in PKS, spoke. He emphasized that it is necessary to take advantage of these conditions. He added that PKS provides support in the promotion of activities to producers, helping them to connect with stores and distributors.

The seminar was intended for producers of natural cosmetics, as well as those who are just entering this sector, with the aim of improving business and establishing better cooperation. Participants had the opportunity to take part in five panel discussions that covered topics of great importance for this sector.

Representatives of the Association of Natural Cosmetics Producers of Serbia “Prikos”, including Marija Petričević, pointed out that interest in natural cosmetics is growing year by year. Association “Prikos” gathers established cosmetics manufacturers. At the same time, it brings together doctors, botanists, dermatologists and other experts in this field, which contributes to the complexity of organizing such events.

The demand for natural cosmetics is record high

The topics of the panel covered various aspects of the production of natural cosmetics. These included the use of medicinal plants, the extraction processes of natural raw materials, the legal obligations that companies must fulfill, as well as brand promotion and product distribution. The topics in question are important for the further development of the natural cosmetics sector. Ultimately, they provide the necessary information to manufacturers on how to improve their products and successfully market them.

Among the panelists were also the founders of well-known companies from this industry, such as “Smilje and Basilje”, “Royal Balm”, “Plemenita Ulija”, “Ludus Academy”, “Idea Organik”, “Herbalab” and “Promontis”. These companies are examples of successful business in the natural cosmetics sector in Serbia.

The seminar “From a plant to a brand” was organized by PKS, the association “Prikos”, the European Entrepreneurship Network (EEN) and the Swiss Export Promotion Program (SIPPO). This indicates the importance of international cooperation and support in the development of this sector.
