series review. For fans of Succession and Yellowstone

How can you react to the huge success of a series on another platform? Offering the same but different production – “Territory” is Netflix’s answer to “Succession” and “Yellowstone”.

The above-mentioned titles are undoubtedly one of the most popular series in recent years. “Succession” ended with a bang after four seasons, while “Yellowstone” is heading towards such an ending. In Poland, the latter title, of course, became more popular thanks to its presence on SkyShowtime, although the presence of the first two seasons on Netflix also contributed to increased interest in Taylor Sheridan’s production. Netflix, wanting to attract viewers, decided to go in a similar direction and present a series that will also touch on the struggle for power in a business empire and the rivalry within the family, which at the same time must defend itself against external enemies.

Territory – series review. For fans of Succession and Yellowstone

The series is set in the harsh Australian Outback, where the fate of the world’s largest cattle farm is intertwined with dramatic events. The main characters are members of the Lawson family: Emily Lawson played by Anna Torv, Marshall Lawson played by Michael Dorman, Sam Lawson played by Robert Taylor and Jack Lawson played by Sam Corlett. After the death of the family patriarch, a conflict arises over taking control of the farm, which attracts various factions – from hostile ranchers, through dangerous gangs, to Aboriginal community leaders and powerful mining magnates.

By discovering these tensions, conflicts and challenges faced by the Lawson family, the creators of the series effectively create a world full of emotions and intrigue that absorbs from the first to the last episode. The story of “The Territory” is not only engaging, but also multi-dimensional, offering insight into human motivations and relationships that give the narrative depth and authenticity. There are many similarities here, not only to the previously mentioned titles, but also to many others that were filmed in the past, but the entire Australian setting gives the production a unique atmosphere, which is as strong a magnet as the other advantages.

One of the most outstanding elements of the series is its visuals. Raw and beautiful Australian landscapes Outback are captured in a way that highlights both the dangers and charm of the place. The photos are taken with attention to detail, and outdoor scenes regularly remind us of the circumstances of the wild climate and untamed world. The visual effects and set design are top-notch, making “Territory” not only a feast for the eye, but also a powerful experience. A realistic portrayal of life in such conditions and the difficulties faced by the inhabitants of these areas are elements that will be completely new to many viewers. There are other important components of the story, such as the struggle for resources, cultural differences, and tensions between tradition and modernity, which are skillfully woven into the plot.

Is Territory worth watching?

The show’s script is really well-written, offering dynamic dialogue and developing characters that are both complex and believable. The creators of the series skillfully balance between dramatic moments and more intimate scenes that show the human side of the characters. The main plot is interwoven with numerous sub-plots that add depth and context to the main narrative, making the story even more engaging. Michael Dorman as Marshall Lawson presents a convincing character who struggles with the burden of responsibility for his family legacy. Anna Torv as Emily Lawson brings strength and determination to the series, while also showing a more sensitive side to her character.

“Territory” is a series that combines everything that’s best in the drama and western genres – Netflix managed to survive the task it set itself, which was to compete with the above-mentioned hits. The strengths of “Territory” include not only an engaging plot and expressive characters, but also breathtaking landscapes and deep, multi-layered plots. This is a production that will remain in your memory for a long time and will certainly find its place in the canon of the best series available on Netflix. At the same time, it reminds us of a genre that Netflix has not exploited much so far, which is a pity, because the somewhat forgotten series “Godless” may be worth recalling on the occasion of the premiere of “Territory”.
