The edition iOS 18 has been released, bringing several positive changes, but also a serious bug that is relatively easy to avoid if you pay attention. According to a report by 9to5Mac, if someone sends you a watch face through the Messages app and reply to this message with iOS 18, the app will “wines” for both you and the sender. The problem is not isolated, as the app keeps crashing every time you try to open that particular chat, and it can affect other chats, making the app almost unusable.
The only way to solve the problem is deleting that particular conversation from all devices, which can be difficult due to constant app crashes. This solution, however, means losing the chat and any photos or videos that are not stored outside the application. If you restore the conversation from the Recently Deleted folder, the error reappears.
The bug doesn’t seem to trigger if you use the build beta of iOS 18.1 to reply, but even if someone has a different software version, the problem can occur if the reply comes from an iOS 18 device. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid exchanging Apple Watch faces in Messages and do not reply to such messages if you are using the new operating system.
