INFLATION in Germany is growing rapidly in November as well, which is a reflection of stronger growth in commodity prices and a milder decline in energy prices, preliminary calculations of the Bureau of Statistics showed.
In November, prices were 2.2% higher than in the same month last year, Destatis said based on data from a group of federal countries.
In October, they increased by 2.0%.
The monthly comparison shows a drop in prices in November by 0.2%, while in October they increased by 0.4%.
Excluding food and energy, the annual inflation rate in November was 3.0%, according to Destatis’ calculation, which is higher than in October.
The slight acceleration of price growth on an annual basis reflects a slightly stronger increase in the price of goods by 0.7% compared to November last year.
Energy, however, became cheaper again, but noticeably milder than in October, by 3.7 percent.
Food prices increased by 1.8% at the end of the month. also somewhat milder than the previous month.
Services had the highest growth this month, by 4.0%, as in October.
Prices rose the most in Saxony, and it was also noticeable in Bavaria.
According to the harmonized index of consumer prices (HIPC), which is used for easier comparison between EU countries, prices in the largest European economy in November were 2.4% higher than in November last year, and the same is true for October, according to experts.
On a monthly basis, they fell by 0.7 percent, after a growth of 0.4 percent in the previous month.
The Bureau of Statistics calculates the preliminary inflation rate based on data from the group of federal states with the largest number of inhabitants, which showed that prices in November rose the most in Saxony, by 2.9 percent.
Bavaria is noticeably above two percent, with a price increase of 2.6 percent.
