At least seven babies have died from the cold and lack of a roof over their heads in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced.
The war between Israel and the militant Hamas movement also means that up to 7,700 babies in the Gaza Strip cannot get the care they need.
This is what UNRWA writes on Sunday in a post on X.
At the end of December, the Palestinian news agency Wafa wrote that four babies had died of cold in the Gaza Strip.
About 15 months of war in the Gaza Strip has meant that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have lost their homes.

Temperatures have recently been below ten degrees Celsius.

Virtually the entire population has fled, and according to the Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled area, over 45,800 Palestinians have been killed in the last 15 months.
It is not possible to get the number verified from the other side. But according to the UN, the casualty figures reported by the Gaza Strip’s health authorities in previous armed conflicts between Hamas and Israel have turned out to be roughly correct.
